Hey everyone, welcome back to Dr. Kuns’ Chiro Chat! I’m Dr. Wesley Kuns, and today we’re talking about sitting too much, which is a huge health risk that most people don’t even think about.
A lot of our patients have office jobs or other roles that tie them to their chair. Sitting for hours at a time increases back pain, weakens your muscles, and even slows your metabolism. But the good news? Small changes make a big difference.
Here’s how to break up long periods of sitting:
Set a timer to stand up every 30 minutes. Even if it’s just a bathroom break or refilling your water, it makes a difference!
Try walking meetings or standing desks. Warmer weather means more reasons to get in the sun, which means double the benefit.
Lastly, Do spinal stretches like standing backbends or seated twists. These are super easy and low risk, but they give your spine the motion it needs to keep doing its job.
Just like smoking, unhealthy spine habits are coming to light more and more every day. Don’t get caught in unhealthy cycles before they are unbreakable!
Movement is key to a healthy spine. If you’re struggling with stiffness or discomfort, chiropractic care can help you stay active for years to come. Don’t stunt your mobility young!
